Random Packing & Support

Pall Ring, it may be one of the greatest inventions in tower packing products. Please allow me to say so, because it has a history of nearly a hundred years since its invention for industrial application. Even now, it is still one of the mostly used chemical fillers.

Its structure is very distinctive, with equal diameter and height. The metal pall ring is made by punching and rolling metal sheets. Two rows of window holes with internally extended tongue lobes were opened on the ring wall, with 5 tongue lobes bent into the ring and pointing towards the center of the ring in each row of windows. The positions of the upper and lower window openings are staggered, and the total area of the openings is generally about 35% of the entire ring area.

Our factory produces and supplies metal Pall Rings, including 304, 316L, 321, carbon steel, 201, 410S, etc., as well as materials such as 2205 and TA2. The common sizes of Pall Rings include 16mm [3/4''], 25mm [1''], 38mm [1 1/2''], 50mm [2''], 76mm [3''], etc. If the quantity is sufficient, other sizes can also be produced as needed. Each size of pall ring comes with multiple wall thickness options. Taking 25mm [1''] pall ring as an example, the wall thickness can be 0.3mm, 0.4mm, 0.5mm, 0.6mm, etc.

In the sales work of Metal Pall Rings, I have noticed a phenomenon that some buyers would say how many pieces of pall rings they want to buy, with quantities as small as a few hundred pieces and quantities as large as hundreds of thousands pieces. To be honest, it is not possible to count small particles one by one for such random packing, at least it is uneconomical to do so. I sometimes wonder if it's because in some design software, the parameters of such random packing is measured by piece, so buyers getting the task of buying how many pieces. Strictly speaking, purchasing by cubic meter may not be particularly rigorous, either. Because factories usually use jumbo bags to load pall rings, and it is stipulated that one bag is one cubic meter. However, loading the pall rings or other random packing, the appearance of the jumbo bag is irregular, which makes it difficult to check the actual volume. My suggestion is to price and purchase pall rings based on weight (kilograms). Once the engineer has chosen the size and wall thickness, the weight of this pall ring can be easily obtained through theoretical calculations or sampling measurements. By combining the inner volume of the tower to be filled with the recommended number per cubic meter according to industry standards, the required number of stainless steel Pall Rings (in kilograms) can be determined.
